The kitchen tower

The kitchen tower is a self-assembly wooden tower that allows young children to comfortably and safely access a kitchen worktop (standard height). This simple, yet sturdy product achieves the following goals:

  1. Availability of a tried and tested design at an affordable cost that can be assembled by anyone familiar with simple assembly kits.
  2. A special place for young children (age 1 yr 6 months up) to go to in the house, enabling them to participate in kitchen activities at their own place in the kitchen. The elevated height and easier eye contact with adults reinforce the specialness of the tower for young children.
  3. A relatively confined space for a young child that helps to reduce their exposure to numerous kitchen hazards, such as being underfoot whilst cooking. This allows a guardian to be close to their child whilst giving them some freedom for kitchen-based participation.
